Countless platitudes have been offered throughout the years regarding the need, benefit and value of teamwork, whether they be referencing sports teams or corporate businesses. Millions of dollars have been made by speakers talking about and authors writing on the achievement of this all-for-one, one-for-all subject. Yet how often is such actually achieved despite the multitude of opportunities and proponents? Or better yet, what’s the frequency of the development of a ‘family’ where a group actually becomes one in intent and purpose? In reality, few and far between.

Bryan Rooney, the Cal Maritime Academy head coach, has been able to annually create a Keelhauler  family and that clan has multiplied many times over during his 10 years in Vallejo.
