Basketball coaching is not just about knowing the X’s-and-O’s of practice and game plans. There are multiple in-game nuances involved, communications to manage, plus culture to develop and maintain as well. The human interaction portion is the most difficult to master. Chico State’s Greg Clink became the Wildcats’ head coach in 2008. He inherited a program in a swoon and has built a powerhouse: eight consecutive winning seasons, entry into the NCAA tournament six straight times, three CCAA Championships, plus a pair of West Regional championships. His is the most successful four-year college program in northern California.
