Modesto Junior College’s Jemeil King has demonstrated his internal mettle through two important decisions in his young life and now he’s ready to take those achievements and his basketball prowess to the four-year level.
Born in Oakland, the 6-foot-5 King attended Lincoln High in San Francisco through his sophomore year. He and his family then decided that Jemeil’s attending heralded Blue Ridge Prep in Virginia would provide a better growth opportunity. “Going there helped guide me to becoming a better basketball player and person,” King explained. “I didn’t want to become one of those guys with talent who never does anything with it.” Being 3,000 miles away from home is never easy but the situation honed King’s focus with the absence of distractions.
