Upset of the Season!!! On a night where Jordan (Folsom High) Ford shot 1-6 from long distance and 5-14 overall plus Malik Fitts played only 12 minutes due to early foul trouble, St. Mary’s shuts down Gonzaga 60-47 and earns a Big Dance bid. The Zags shot 18-48 on the game, just 2-17 from beyond the arc and their starting backcourt went 5-25 from the floor. 6-foot-8 Rui Hachimura, the West Coast Conference Most Valuable Player,  took just six shots.

“Field set for CCCAA Men’s Basketball State Championship Tournament”

“Eight games, eight survivors and the field is set for the 2019 CCCAA Men’s Basketball State Championship Tournament, set for Thursday, Saturday and Sunday (Mar 14, 16-17) at Ventura. Play will begin with quarterfinal matchups on Thursday with the semifinals on Saturday and the championship on Sunday.

Hornet Hoops: “Lance Coleman has been offered by UT Rio Grand Valley.” UTRGV is a member of the Western  Athletic Conference. Coleman is out of St. Mary’s High-Stockton.

After helping his team go on a 30-game winning streak to claim a section title, Weston Ranch’s Gavin Wilburn has been named the Valley Oak League MVP.

Cougars teammates Donjae Lindsay and Devin Small were also named to the VOL First Team. Other selections include Kimball’s Kai Ballungay and Manteca’s Jorge Cedano and Domonick Victor.”
