In 10 games so far, Chaminade’s 6-foot-6 Kevin (Pleasant Valley High) Kremer is averaging 6.7 points plus 6.0 rebounds per contest (second on the team) while shooting 64%, 44% and 63% respectively. He recently posted a 20 point, 10 board double-double versus Notre Dame de Namur in which he shot 8-9 overall plus 3-4 from long distance.

6-foot-3 Kai (Placer High) Huntsberry is a sophomore guard at San Diego City College averaging 11.8 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists this season while shooting 50%, 44% and 67% respectively. In 13 games, he has 12 starts while playing 27 minutes a contest.

Inaugural Nor Cal Catholic School Challenge on January 4 at Chabot College

The first annual Nor Cal Catholic Challenge will be held Saturday January 4 at Chabot College in Hayward, CA. It will be hosted by Moreau Catholic.

The event will bring together elite Catholic school programs from throughout the state of California. There will five games on the day beginning at 1:00 pm.

High-profile programs such as Bishop O’Dowd (Oakland), Moreau Catholic (Hayward), St. Patrick-St. Vincent (Vallejo), St. Joseph’s-Notre Dame (Alameda) and Southern California powers St. John Bosco (Bellflower) and Damien (La Verne) will be featured.

Currently committed players participating in the event are Monty Bowser of Bishop O’Dowd (California), Wynton Brown of St. John Bosco (Northern Arizona) and Isaiah Holm of St. John Bosco (Chico State).

Promising 2020 prospects are guard/wing Jason Roche of St. Mary’s, guard Josh Camper of St. John Bosco, guard/wing Austin Cook of Damien, center Dischon Jackson and guard Jalen Scott of St. Patrick-St. Vincent.

Class of 2021 prospects include wing Marsalis Roberson of Bishop O’Dowd, guards Lamaj Lewis and Scotty Washington of St. John Bosco, guard Malik Thomas of Damien, forward DJ Johnson of Moreau Catholic, guard/wing Jaden Geron of San Joaquin Memorial.

2022 standouts are forward Jaylen Thompson of St. Joseph’s-Notre Dame, wing Randi Ovalle and forward Jeremiah Nyarko of St. John Bosco, guard Joseph Hunter of San Joaquin Memorial, and guard Trey Knight of Moreau Catholic.

Top 2023 players are national-level postman Jalen Lewis of Bishop O’Dowd, forward LaBrie Goudy-Lee of Moreau Catholic, post Mike Davis Jr and guard Akeem Johnson of San Joaquin Memorial.

In 2018-2019 Bishop O’Dowd and Moreau Catholic were Nor-Cal Division I semi-finalist and St. John Bosco was So-Cal Division I semi-finalist.
