Joey (Marin Catholic) Calcaterra scored 19 points but San Diego fell to 94-59 to Gonzaga.
BJ (St. Patrick-St. Vincent/St. Martin’s) Standley’s 18 points (6-8 from beyond the arc) led Cal Poly Pomona to a 67-54 homecourt victory versus Cal State East Bay.
Chico State hosted and topped Humboldt State 86-57 with Kevin (St. Mary’s High/Cal State Monterey Bay) Warren providing 15 points and seven boards and teammates Justin (River City High) Briggs and Malik (Jesuit High) Duffy tallying 14 and eight plus 15 and five respectively.
Hope International edged Vanguard 75-72 despite the latter getting 17 points from Masie (Serra High/Skyline College) Mohammadi. He shot 5-8 from three-point range.

California Baptist bested Utah Valley University 73-66 as De’Jon (Oakland Tech) Davis performed in the contest MVP role with 21 points and 16 rebounds.
Diablo Valley College scored last and defeated Chabot College 74-72.
College of Alameda topped College of San Mateo 99-80 as Jeremiah Stamps shot 13-14 on his way to 31 points and 12 boards while teammate Kameron Malbrough provided 17 points plus 12 assists.
San Joaquin Delta College took the measure of Los Medanos College 83-72.

Iowa State downed Texas Christian University 65-59 as Solomon (Sacramento High) Young tallied 20 points (shooting 8-11), seven boards and three blocked shots.
San Jose State University was down 51-14 at halftime to host Utah State before falling 94-56. The Spartans shot 19-67 overall, 12-39 from long distance and 6-8 from the foul line, as well as being outrebounded 58-31. The team stands now 7-21, 3-13 with an eight game Mountain West Conference losing streak. Watching on ESPN2, the players encountered difficulty blocking out plus trouble completing basic entry passes into bigs. The nominal centers also struggled catching entry passes that reached them plus awkward outside-shooting forms were too often on display. It was a very humbling look on national television for the program.

Name: James Kelbert
Hometown: San Jose, CA
James Kelbert helped Pomona-Pitzer secure a 97-75 victory over Whittier and a 80-67 win over Occidental. Kelbert pulled down 13 rebounds including 11 on the defensive boards in addition to notching five steals and blocking a shot. Offensively, Kelbert contributed 26 points, highlighted by 19 against the Tigers, and dished out six of his eight helpers against the Poets.
