As many of you know, our family has been involved with an international non-profit organization for years- CISV. You may not know that we recently became the co-Presidents of the Bay Area chapter. Our mission is to Educate and Inspire Action for a more Just and Peaceful World, and it has never been more important.

We accomplish our mission through experiential learning across the globe. Each summer 5,000+ kids travel the world to attend camps where they learn about cultural diversity through peace education. Amy has been a participant in CISV since she was 11, as have both of our daughters. It has been a life-changing experience for all of them.

We are contacting you for a few reasons:

1. We are always looking for interested kids to join our chapter. They can start at the age of 10 and there is no maximum age for becoming a global citizen. 🙂

2. We are always looking for leaders in our organization. Leaders travel with the children to attend the camps. They must be 21+ years old. We pay for all travel/expenses and provide the training.

3. We are always looking for volunteers and like-minded organizations to partner with to expand our reach.

4. You can easily support our mission through AmazonSmile. Simply visit AmazonSmile and select our organization as your designated charity (CISV San Francisco Bay Area). You will continue to receive all the same benefits/pricing of your current Amazon account; however, they will donate .5% of all purchases to our chapter. It’s at no cost to you. If you already support another charity, that’s great, thanks for supporting the good work done by non-profits around the world. If not, please activate AmazonSmile. To make sure you are always generating donations, you can drag the button below to your bookmarks bar and start your shopping there.

Amazon Smile bookmark

If you use Amazon’s mobile app on your phone, you will need to activate AmazonSmile on that as well. Just go to the menu in the app and select AmazonSmile in the drop-down menu. You’ll know if you are supporting charity every time you’re shopping on Amazon if you see the AmazonSmile logo in the top left corner of your screen/phone. If you want to learn more about AmazonSmile, you can follow this link.

CISV is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit. Our chapter maintains a Gold Seal of Transparency on GuideStar and is part of the PayPal Giving Fund if you would like to make a tax-deductible donation.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. We know these are very challenging times, but they’re also very important times. If we haven’t connected in a while, we’d love to hear from you. Take care and stay safe.

“Las Positas College Men’s Basketball Coach Giacomazzi Named Athletic Director” Matt Schwab

Congrats to Coach Giacomazzi.

2021 northern California prospects noted by Dinos Trigonis after the his recent Pangos Rocky Mountain event:

“Sione Lose 6’4″ 2021 Capital Christian (Sacramento CA)
Tough wing plays to win and is very much underrated regionally on the West Coast. Showed his worth in St. George for College Prep Academy by scoring a game-high 30 points against a loaded Seattle Rotary squad in a very competitive game. Wyoming, UC-San Diego and Sacramento State are among those showing interest at the moment for this very good student.

Alex Horiuk 6’11” 2021 Jesuit (Carmichael CA)
Northern Cal senior sleeper center prospect has real post value in a very thin 2021 class. Excellent length to go along with nice agility and accurate touch in the paint. Very good student (3.5 GPA) is worth a long look for MM+ and below programs looking to add interior depth.

Jaden Phillips 6’5” 2021 Veritas Prep
Quick slashing scorer is also a pesky defender.

Takai Emerson-Hardy 6’7” 2021 Vanden (Fairfield CA)
Bruising PF is solid and consistent on the glass.

Robert Vaihola 6’7” 2021 Riordan (San Francisco CA)
PF with a big body and solid interior scoring ability.

Mekhi Morris 5’10” 2021 Capitol Christian (Sacramento CA)
Quick point guard is a pesky defender.

Nigel Burris 6’7” 2021 Mitty (San Jose CA)
Solid rebounder and defender.

Cameron Walker 5’11” 2021 Turlock (CA)
Quick PG is a confident ballhandler with ability to knock down shots. Very good student (3.5 GPA) has great attitude.

Bronson Burrow 6’7” 2021 Ripon (CA)
Solid rebounder can score down low.”

Dathan Satchell: “Blessed to receive an offer from Chicago State”

He’s a 6-foot-3 sophomore 2021 guard at Casper (WY) College but originally out of Modesto Christian. As a freshman, he averaged 9.3 points while shooting 49%, 46% and 89% respectively—remarkable accuracy.

Nicholas Podesta is the new Caruthers High boys basketball coach.

Verbal Commits D2: “2021 Crossroads (CA) F Brendan Terry has received an offer from Cal State East Bay.”

Terry is 6-7, 215.

Former Modesto Christian forward 6-foot-9 Tsotne Tsartsidze has transferred from Howard (TX) College to College of Southern Idaho for his sophomore season.

Isaiah Taylor joins Maccabi Rishon LeZion” Emiliano Carchia

The 6-foot-2 guard was born in Hayward and played nigh school ball in the East Bay before he and his family moved to Texas.
