How many recruiting trips taken by northern California talents have required the use of a passport? Nobody has been tracking such but it’s certainly very, very few. So Las Positas Colege’s Donald Mims is in select company just as he was in leading the state community college ranks in blocked shots this season.
Now he is heading to Brock University in Ontario, Canada after visiting late last week…

A player who stands 6-foot-6 and can shoot is an attractive size/skill combination. Translation: check out Eric DeBrine of Sacred Heart Prep and the West Valley Basketball Club (WVBC). He’s a 2018 prospect coming off a 14.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game high school season as a co-captain of his squad.
DeBrine’s training began early, “once I could walk.” That was with his father, who he calls his biggest basketball influence, and involved a great deal of practice time shooting in the driveway. Basketball was foremost sport due to “the fast-paced tempo of the game plus the multiple opportunities to score.” Then, “I worked with Raymond Townsend in middle school and now Doc Scheppler during high school.”…

During this time within the basketball world where player movement in high school and college captures so much attention, Benson Osayande is the ultimate anachronism. His hoops résumé is one of commitment and loyalty: one high school (Franklin High), a single travel team (Team Sage), a solitary community college program (Casper College) and a sole four-year school (Montana State).
How so? Attribute this to a combination of his personal character plus the decision-making process utilized by the 6-foot-9 talent. It all began with Team Sage out of Sacramento, a travel squad albeit with an emphasis on academics…

Foothill College finished 12-15 overall this season, 2-10 in the Coast Conference North, obviously not the records the Owls desired. But a rare element was achieved, something arguably more important and one that will carry over long after the 2016-17 basketball run fades.
That being human connection. Make that connections.
What the players and coaches developed, from Head Coach Matt Stanley down through the 13th man, was so much more than a four-month affiliation offered through team membership. It was an uncommon bond, an esprit de corps of fellowship and fraternity that will likely remain in effect for decades…

One could possibly mistake the sport Josh McMillan plays especially if possessing dreadful eyesight, but alas no water is involved and neither do the participants rack up scores based upon degree of difficulty.
The 6-foot-3 Leland High (San Jose) basketball talent Josh McMillan has a well known penchant for diving after any loose ball that enters his domain or anywhere thereabouts. That willingness to splay out in search of gaining a possession plus his willingness to step in front of opposing players barreling down the paint front and center highlight his game and have left coaches in his league saying ‘I would love to have you on my team but I hate playing against you!’.
“My intensity, my willingness to take a charge or diving on the ball holds everybody together,” McMillan explained. “I’m a glue guy. My energy changes the team dynamic and sets the tone in practice.”
Now the is taking that mojo to the University of Puget Sound. Why the Loggers?…

Tavian Henderson never expected sainthood to be bestowed upon him but after his sterling play throughout both the St. Patrick-St. Vincent regular schedule as well as the post-season, the 6-foot-4 guard has earned a scholarship from St. Martin’s University, aka the Saints.
Every recruiting tale is a little different and Henderson’s connection with a St. Martin assistant coach and then the comfort he felt during his official visit were foremost in his decision to head to Lacey, Washington.
“My recruitment began…”
