Jordan (Folsom High) Ford scored 23 points but St. Mary’s fell 90-60 to Gonzaga as the Zags shot 68% overall. A 53-28 first 20 minutes became insurmountable for the Gaels.

Iowa State took the measure of Kansas State 73-63 as Solomon (Sacramento High) Young tallied 20 points alongside four steals and three boards in 23 minutes of court time.

19 points, nine boards and four assists from Sayeed (El Cerrito High) Pridgett powered Montana to an 82-71 success versus Idaho.

Joey (Marin Catholic) Calcaterra scored 19 points in San Diego’s 88-81 double overtime win against Portland.

Nate (Woodcreek High) Blackwell produced 15 points plus five assists but Fresno State fell on a last second shot 68-67 to UNLV. He shot 5-7, 4-6 and 1-2 respectively.

(Carlos) Johnson only had attempted one field goal before he also connected on back-to-back 3s, sparking a run of Johnson scoring 10 consecutive Grand Canyon University points and 12 of the team’s last 14 in the first half. Johnson did not miss a shot in the game, scoring a team-high 25 points by going 6 for 6 overall with four 3-pointers and 9-for-11 shooting on free throws….” Grand Canyon beat Cal Baptist 103-98.

Malik (Jesuit High) Duffy’s 14 point, 12 rebound double-double led Chico State to a 79-73 homecourt win versus Cal State San Marcos. Jayce (Folsom High) McCain scored 15 points for the latter.

Charlie (Granite Bay High/Nevada) Tooley finished with 15 points, seven boards and four assists as Cal State Monterey Bay edged Cal State Dominguez Hills 74-72.

Evan (Santa Clara) Wardlow posted a 20 point, 10 rebound double-double as Cal State East Bay proved to be two points better than host Cal State Los Angeles 75-73.

Nick (Clayton Valley High) Klarman’s 24 points, 10 boards and four steals loomed large in Sonoma State’s 78-69 victory versus San Francisco State. Linton (Cabrillo College) Acliese led the Gators with both 24 points and eight rebounds.

Tavian (St. Patrick-St. Vincent/St. Martin’s) Vincent just missed a double-double with 15 points plus nine boards in Cal Poly Pomona’s 60-57 tight win over host Cal State Stanislaus.

Micah (Lick-Wilmerding) Elan provided team highs of 24 points and five assists and teammate Brendan (Gunn High) Mora concluded with 16 points and a team best of seven rebounds but Pomona-Pitzer fell 94-77 to University of Redlands.

Fresno State bopped West Hills Coalinga 115-67 as Jaden (Lemoore High) Bray-Williams shot 11-14 overall on his way to 23 points for the Rams.

College of the Redwoods topped Butte College 83-77 despite Noah (Corning High) Zoppi pouring in 31 points and grabbing eight rebounds—both squad highs—for Coach Russ Critchfield. He shot 11-24, 5-15 and 4-5 respectively.

College of the Sequoias hosted Merced College and nabbed an 83-75 win as Milton (Bullard High) Burnett’s 18 points led five COS players in double figures. 18 points plus 10 boards from Eddie (Rosemont High) Reddiccs paced Merced.

Friday, February 7

A 71-31 initial 20 minutes powered Las Positas College past Cañada College 133-81 as Andrew (Freedom High/Metro State) Mork was a perfect 10-10 shooting overall, 6-6 from long distance, in leading the victors with 26 points. Michael (West High) Hayes, Matt Roseby and Marquis (Vanden High/Mesa Community College) Davison each contributed 19 points with Davison adding 12 boards. For the Colts, Walter (McClymonds High) Brandon finished with 30 points and Joseph (Palo Alto High) Gault added 20 points.

Host Cabrillo College bested Gavilan College 82-63 as Gabe Mack led the Seahawks with 20 points.

Paced by Dunnell Stafford’s 22 points and 10 rebounds, Solano College bested visiting Merritt College 82-69.

In 21 games and just under 20 minutes an outing, former California and City College of San Francisco 6-foot-4 guard Deschon Winston, now at Central Michigan, is averaging 7.2 points plus 2.3 rebounds with 51 assists versus 25 turnover as well as 23 steals. The majority of players on the Bellevue University (Nebraska) roster come from northern California community colleges. Among the team leaders are:

6-foot-5 Jemeil (Lincoln High/Modesto Junior College) King is averaging team bests with 15.0 points plus 4.0 assists per game as well as contributing 4.0 rebounds.

6-foot-6 Lewis (Chavez High/City College San Francisco) Hayes is second on the squad in scoring at 13.5 points a night and his 5.3 rebounds is tops on the team.
