Coach James Giacomazzi’s LPC squad won both of its home  contests, 95-47 versus Contra Costa and 79-77 over College of the Siskiyous. Saturday’s matchup with Butte was cancelled as the latter squad was in an auto accident on the way to the tournament.

The University of California, Merced men’s basketball team got by Dominican University of California in the 2019-20 home opener, 76-68 Saturday afternoon inside the Joseph Edward Gallo Gymnasium.

Senior guard Andrew (Sacramento High) Williams poured in a game-high 18 points off the bench for the Bobcats (2-0), while Kingsley (Alameda High) Obiorah was exactly what the team needed down low and was good for a career-high 12 rebounds and a program-best five blocks. Gabe Mack provided 17 points, seven assists and three steals in host Cabrillo College’s 82-63 victory over Napa Valley College … Elihu (St. Joseph/Santa Maria) Cobb shot 9-9 on his way to 20 and also grabbed 11 boards in the 85-81 College of the Sequoias win over Gavilan College. 6-foot-5 Ryan (Hanford High) Johnson contributed a 26 point, 10 rebound double-double … Diyar (Serra High) Yuksel posted a 22 point, 10 board double-double in Cañada College’s 71-67 loss to College of the Siskiyous … In just 13 minutes, Ronald (Sheldon High) Agebsar shot 5-6 overall plus 5-5 at the foul line in leading Fresno City College to a 99-58 success at Victor Valley College. Teammate Keshawn (Burbank High) Bruner went 7-9 in scoring 14 points during 18 minutes of action … Michael (West High) Hayes scored 13 points and corralled 15 boards in the Las Positas College 95-46 win over Contra Costa College.

Saturday, November 2 California JC highlights

CCSF Men’s Basketball: “Great team tonight over a good San Diego team 87-51. Ezikiel Holman lead the Rams in scoring tonight with 20pts.”

Thomas (Arcata High) Nelson exploded for 36 points and 13 boards in the College of the Redwoods 75-66 defeat of Monterey Peninsula College. He shot 12-18, 5-9 and 7-8 respectively.

Joseph (Palo Alto High) Gault just missed a double-double with 23 points plus nine rebounds (9-12, 2-2, 3-3 shooting) as Cañada College turned back Contra Costa College 70-65 in the Las Positas tournament.

Los Medanos College defeated Gavilan 104-88 despite Ram Kobe (Monterey High) Ordonio posting a line of 32 points, six assists, five steals and three steals line while shooting 11-19, 3-6 and 7-8 overall. Teammate Jason (St. Francis High-Watsonville) Gallo tallied 22 points and seven assists on 7-9, 3-4 and 5-7 shooting.

Delta Men’s Basketball: “77-41 Delta over Cabrillo. Travis August leading the way with 27 points on 9/14 shooting from 3. Keith Terry 12, Dillon Autrey 10. 2-0 start to season.”

Sunday, November 3 California JC highlights

Michael (Paterson High) Moore tallied 21 points on 7-8, 7-10 shooting as Las Positas College edged College of the Siskiyous 79-77.

Dwayne McClendon finished with 19 points (he scored 30 points and 28 points in the previous two contests) as College of the Siskiyous fell 79-77 to Las Positas College.

Host San Francisco City College blasted off with three consecutive easy wins concluding with a 98-67 Sunday win over Yuba. This after downing San Diego City College (87-51 on Saturday) and Mount San Antonio College (93-61 on Friday).
